The short version

Heidi Health is a larger product with a wider reach. Its pricing page lists a Free plan with unlimited transcription and standard templates, a Clinician plan with a 14-day trial, and a Teams plan sold through its sales team. Its download page offers apps for iOS, Android, Windows and macOS. Its developer documentation lists the languages it supports for transcription, notes and document generation, so a note can be produced in a language other than English. Its Teams plan includes EHR integration.

ClearPass is smaller and narrower. It runs in the browser on a desktop, tablet or phone and can be added to the home screen, but there is no store app. It transcribes visits in most languages, including visits that switch language mid-sentence, and it always writes the note in English. It does not connect to any EMR: the note is copy-ready text. Where it differs is what happens after the note: referral letters, sick notes, patient instructions, codes and a prior authorization or appeal letter come from the same visit.

Where Heidi is the stronger choice

You want a no-cost plan rather than a trial. Heidi lists a Free plan next to its paid ones, with a weekly allowance for the advanced features; the ClearPass trial ends after seven days.
You need the note itself in a language other than English, for colleagues or patients who read it in that language.
Your clinic wants the note written into its EMR rather than pasted. Heidi lists EHR integration on its Teams plan; ClearPass has none.
Your organisation requires a signed business associate agreement. Heidi says it offers one; ClearPass does not sign them today.
You prefer a native phone or desktop app, for example to capture telehealth audio from a call on the desktop.

Where ClearPass may suit you better

Your day includes prior authorization requests or denied claims. ClearPass writes a justification letter from the same visit, and its Rejection Analysis mode offers a Targeted Fix or a Full Rewrite for a denial.
Your consultations mix languages and you want one English note at the end, with the numbers check marking any figure in the note that was never said in the transcript.
You want your note history kept in your own browser rather than on a vendor server, with optional auto-delete after 7, 30 or 90 days.
You work across many specialties and want guided templates: 300+ case templates in 19 groups, plus your own reusable note structure.

How to decide

Run the same two or three real consultations through both during their trials, with the patient's agreement. Compare the drafts on what matters to you: missed findings, invented details, how long the edit takes, and whether the output fits your EMR. A tool that saves time on a straightforward follow-up may struggle with a complex multi-problem visit, so include one of each.

Privacy

Clinical note content is not stored on ClearPass servers: it is processed to write the note, then discarded. Consultation audio is transcribed and discarded, never stored. Your note history stays in your browser, on your device, and you choose how long it is kept. Common identifiers are removed from typed and transcribed text before it reaches the AI; that is a best-effort safeguard, so leave names, ID numbers and file numbers out where you can. Processing goes through the AI providers named in our Privacy Policy, which sets out exactly what each one receives and how long it keeps it. ClearPass does not sign HIPAA business associate agreements today.

Is Heidi free?

Heidi's pricing page lists a Free plan with unlimited transcription and standard templates, with limited use of features such as advanced templates, coding and dictation. Paid plans add more.

Can ClearPass write notes in Arabic or Spanish like Heidi?

No. ClearPass transcribes visits in most languages but always writes the note in English. If you need the note in another language, Heidi's documentation lists that as supported.

Does either one connect to my EMR?

Heidi lists EHR integration on its Teams plan. ClearPass does not connect to any EMR; you copy the note and paste it into your system.

Which one keeps less data?
